What to expect
HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) is known for minimal downtime. Mild redness, tenderness, slight swelling, or a tingling sensation in the treated area are normal and usually settle within hours to a couple of days.
Most people return to normal activities right away, with just a few sensible precautions.
What to avoid
For about 24 hours, avoid heat (sauna, hot yoga, very hot showers), strenuous exercise, and alcohol — all can increase swelling and sensitivity.
Skip harsh actives and aggressive treatments on the area for a few days while the skin is reactive.
What to do
Keep skincare gentle and hydrating, and apply broad-spectrum SPF daily — sun protection supports healing and protects your results.
Stay hydrated and let the skin settle; no special downtime routine is usually needed.
When results appear
HIFU works by stimulating collagen, so results build gradually — typically over 2 to 3 months — rather than appearing immediately. Some people notice a subtle initial tightening that develops further over time.
Patience is part of the treatment; judging it in the first week understates the outcome.
Normal vs warning signs
Normal: mild redness, tenderness, slight swelling, or temporary tingling that fade quickly.
Warning signs: severe or prolonged swelling, blistering, persistent or unusual pain, or signs of a burn — contact the clinic for guidance.
